The building and construction sector is the largest energy consumer in France (45% of national consumption) and its environmental impact (CO2 emissions, resource consumption) is particularly significant.
In order to be part of a decarbonization trajectory, the building and construction sector must undertake its transformation while ensuring that it is part of a just and inclusive energy transition.
High-performance energy renovation, thermal comfort standards, accessibility, adaptation to climate change, development of renewable energies, skills and job development… for whom are these ecological transition policies in buildings designed? What differentiated impacts do they have on different social groups, on minorities? It is indeed a matter of ensuring that vulnerable populations are not the losers in a sectoral transition that does not contribute to reducing pre-existing discrimination (income, gender, age, physical condition, ethnicity…) and to preventing the emergence of new inequalities.
Based on the expertise of women from the world of research and practitioners, this workshop will present the challenges of a socially just and inclusive transition in the building and construction sector and propose solutions based on concrete examples.
